Red is the only color we wear for graduation. If you can not afford one we will order one for you now and you can pay later. The cost is $40. You must have a red cap and gown in order to walk at graduation; so time is of the essence for those who have not not ordered one. The order will include the cap, the tassel, and the gown. Hello. This is a message from Parkersburg High School. Saturday is the last day to pre-order a yearbook. The cost is $70. Yearbooks may be ordered online at yearbookordercenter.com, using code 4982. They may also be purchased in-person in the finance office on Friday, using cash or a check made payable to Parkersburg High School. Yearbooks will be distributed in May, before graduation. There are limited quantities available and we can't re-order, so don't miss out! If you're not sure you ordered a yearbook, the names of everyone who has purchased one as of last Friday is posted on the 3rd floor bulletin board in the main hallway.

There will be an Early College Information Session April 18th at 5:30PM in the PHS Auditorium. WVUP staff along with PHS counselors will be there to answer questions you may have. This is a great opportunity for students to earn college credit while enrolled in advanced high school courses.

Good evening, this is Christie Willis, Superintendent of Wood County Schools. I apologize for the late message this evening. Today has been a stressful day for the community, and many rumors fueled by anxiety and concern have been circulating on social media. Let me address some of today's concerns. At PHS it was reported a student made a reference to having a weapon. Administrators immediately investigated and there was no weapon. Social Media statements have been made that there were several overdoses at PHS. The report is untrue. At Parkersburg South High School a student reported briefly overhearing a conversation where someone made a threat. Upon investigation the threat was not credible. Recent events have made everyone concerned about school and student safety. Administrators were notified of safety concerns, and everyone was asked to be more vigilant. The See Send App has been utilized and we take the information reported seriously. Often times, the school system cannot release details that might identify students. I hope you will take time to process the seriousness of today's events with your child. It is important threats are reported. Our students also need to be aware that spreading rumors can escalate fear. Let me assure you, the administrative team in Wood County Schools is working diligently to ensure student safety. On Wednesday April 12th students in grades 9-11 will be taking College Board exams. The 9th and 10th graders will be taking the PSAT, and 11th grade will be taking the SAT. Testing will begin at the start of first period. Rosters with testing locations will be posted in the hall later this week. Please make sure you student arrives to school on time and ready to do their best.

Attention Seniors: There will be a senior trip to Cedar Point, organized by Miss Wolfe and Mr. Vincent. The trip will be on Monday, May 15th, leaving PHS at 6:00 AM. Cost is $40.00. It is open to all seniors, but only 100 tickets are available. Tickets can be purchased with cash or check. Sales will begin on Monday, March 27th (the first day back from Spring Break) in Mr. Vincent's room, 227.5C. The first 100 individuals to purchase are the 100 who get to go. Hello. This is Parkersburg High School with an important message for all families and students: Wednesday is the last day to purchase a yearbook for $60. After Wednesday, the price goes up to $70. The last day to pre-order a yearbook is Saturday, April 15. Quantities are limited and there is no guarantee that extra yearbooks will be available, so please place your order as soon as possible. PHS Juniors and Seniors: On Tuesday, March 28, you will have an opportunity to take the ASVAB. This assessment is used by all branches of the military and as a careers interest inventory. Please see Mr. Sprague in the Student Service Center if you have any questions.

Greetings parents and guardians: While working through a glitch in our all-call system, Wood County Schools realized that our morning, elementary school attendance calls to parents informing of a student absence did not go out. We want you to know that this occurred and that the problem has been corrected. Absence calls will continue as normal on Monday.

The Tippens Scholarship applications are now available in the Student Services Center. This scholarship is a full ride for a WV public or private 4-year college or university. Applications are due to Mrs. McCay by 3/17/23. Two students will be selected to interview with WesBanco for the award.

Our goal is to support students across the United States who remain resilient in the face of adversity and are experiencing critical financial need. This is why we go beyond the scholarship award to provide our scholarship recipients with additional financial support, and a range of holistic care, including mental health services, mentorship opportunities, and one-on-one academic and financial counseling. As you share our scholarship with students who qualify, please note that our scholarship is only open to students currently in their junior year. We do this to support our scholarship recipients in their senior year of high school as they prepare to transition to college. The deadline to submit a completed application is March 15th, 2023. To be eligible to apply for a Horatio Alger National or State Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required) Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and Be a United States citizen

The Promise application, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and Parkersburg Area Community Foundation Scholarship Application must be completed by March 1, 2023.
