Seniors! The first day of graduation practice is Thursday, May 19th at 8:30 am in the Field House. Do not wear your cap and gown. If you are planning on walking at graduation, practice is required. Please do not be late! Please take your red cap and gown out of the plastic and hang it up. You can steam it to get rid of the wrinkles, but do not iron it. Since we are all wearing red this year, you can wear any color under your gown. This is a formal ceremony, so clothing should resemble that. Dress slacks, dresses, dress shoes (NO HEELS), dress shirt, ties, or a combination of are all recommended. On the first day of practice you will sit up in the Fieldhouse bleachers until we put you in order. We will be done with practice on both Thursday and Friday by no later than 11:00 o'clock. Graduation practice takes as long as you cooperate; if you show up on time and you listen, you will get out sooner. We will see you Thursday at 8:30am!

Don't forget tomorrow is TAP/Awards Day at 9:00am in the field house! Seniors need to come dressed in their cap and gown to the Jack Stephens gym by 8:30am. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate in the recognition of our students' hard work these past 4 years.

Attention Senior Parents! Anyone wanting to help with the Senior All Night Party this coming Saturday night after graduation, there will be a meeting for all parents at the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg on May 19th at 530. Hope to see you there!

On May 26th Michelle Nabers from WVUP will be in the library to help get students registered for dual credit courses for next school year. If students are applying for an early college need based scholarship they can turn those applications in at that time as well. Scholarship applications are located at the following website https://www.wvup.edu/future-students/high-school-students/early-college/

Tomorrow before the parade the counselors will have a table out front with a list of students being recognized at the awards ceremony as well as cords for dual credit. Students who took 12 hours or more of dual credit courses through WVUP will receive a cord.

Only registered licensed vehicles are permitted in the parade. All vehicles will be checked coming into the horseshoe and leaving for the parade for compliance. There will be no exceptions to these rules.
Students may decorate their cars in the horseshoe prior to the parade.
The parade will leave the horseshoe, go down Washington Ave., down through and around the park, and then back up Washington Ave. The parade will finish in the back parking lot when at that time the Chill N' Grill in the Stadium will begin. You can leave the Chill N' Grill at anytime, but you can not return if you do. At anytime the normal process of school is disrupted, or any other student violation occurs, those Seniors involved will not walk at graduation. We look forward to a wonderful day tomorrow, so please enjoy it!

Hello, this is Kenny DeMoss, Principal of Parkersburg High School, with an important message for all students, especially seniors and senior parents.
On Tuesday, May 17th, at 10:00 AM, we will have our Senior Color Day. Students will be able to line up in the horseshoe starting at 8:30 AM. We will begin festivities with the raising of our senior flag at 10:00 AM and the parade will start there afterwards. Only those Seniors participating in Color Day will be allowed to park on the horseshoe for the parade.
No one will be allowed to stand in a truck bed, hang out the windows or sit improperly. No trailers or floats are allowed. No flags can be flown or hung from a float or vehicle.

Good evening, this is Parkersburg High School with some important reminders for Seniors:
• Thursday, May 12th and Friday, May 13th, Seniors will turn in their iPad with the cord and charger in the library by a designated schedule that the teachers have been given.
• Monday, May 16th is Senior's last day. All make up work, textbooks, and school property should be returned by this day. If you have a locker, please clean out your locker, and place your lock back on your locker, locked up with the door open.
• The only reason a Senior should be in the building after the 16th is for business reasons such as paying debts, etc.
• Senior Color Day will be Tuesday the 17th starting at 10:00 o'clock. You may line up in the horse shoe starting at 8:30AM. No one will be allowed to park in the horseshoe that day except for Seniors. Only licensed vehicles that can be driven on the road are permitted in the parade; this includes any trailer that is pulled.
• Color Day is for Seniors only; no other students are permitted to participate.
• We will start Color Day off by gathering at the flagpole at 10:00 o'clock for the Senior song and the raising of the Senior flag.
• The parade will go down Washington Ave. around the Park and back up the same way.
• The Senior Chill n’Grill will begin after the parade is over.
• All vehicles will be checked upon entering the horseshoe; no water balloons or water guns are allowed. Unnecessary items will be confiscated.
• The Chill N’ Grill will last no longer than three o’clock; Color Day and the Chill N’ Grill are not required to attend, but are highly suggested due to the long standing tradition.
• TAP Day (Awards Day) is on Wednesday, May 18th at 9am. If you know your getting a scholarship, please attend and wear your cap and gown.

• There will be many things handed out at graduation practice. Parents, please make sure you ask to see those items.
• We will do everything we can to have graduation outside even if it means dealing with a little bit of rain.
• There will not be a ticket requirement if graduation stays outside.
• If graduation is inside, there will be a minimum of five tickets given to each graduate.
• I know there are many other questions you probably have and many of those questions will be answered at graduation practice. Please ask your graduate questions daily, but all of the important information I've just given you is what's vital to start off with this week. Most importantly, Seniors please remember that even though your last day is Monday, you are still technically a student of Parkersburg High School until you graduate on Saturday. There can be no disruption of our school at any time, so please make sure you understand that when it comes to planning your days. Any disruption or poor behavior that is caused can result in failure to participate in Color Day, suspension, and/or failure to walk at graduation.
• For those student athletes still participating in sports after graduation on the 21st, you're still considered a student and must abide by the student code of conduct until your sport is concluded.
• Caps can be decorated as long as the items glued to the top do not exceed 1” in height.
We look forward to a great graduation week from Color Day to practice to Graduation. If you have any questions, you can give us a call at 304-420-9595
